A new Quinnipiac University poll shows that Donald Trump has closed ground on Hillary Clinton.
The new poll shows Clinton 42 and Trump with 40 – 12 points better than polls released last week, but according to the New York Times version published today, the poll represents only a slight improvement for Trump, saying he trailed by only four points at the beginning of June.
Many Trump supporters now believe that the fake polls and bought polls which occasionally appeared during the primary season are now becoming the order of the day in the wake of all major polls concerning Brexit had it wrong.
The suspicion is that the rash of fake polls last week were the result of a broad-based push by the establishment to try to kickstart the flailing “Never Trump” movement. The Republican convention starts on July 18 – just less than 4 weeks from today
Yesterday, Sean Hannity reported that the recent slew of national polls showing Hillary Clinton with a double-digit lead have been proven to be “completely fraudulent”.
The Gateway Poll done by the world’s largest news agency, Reuters, last week claimed that Clinton had opened up a 14-point lead over Trump – 47 to 33.
However, according to Hannity, of the 1201 respondents, 626 were Democrats and only 423 were Republicans – a 33% skew favoring Clinton.
According to Allen West, Reuters isn’t the only misleading poll. The new ABC/Washington Post survey found Hillary leading Trump by a 51-39 margin. In that sample, 36% were Democrats and only 24% were Republicans – again, a 33% skew towards Clinton.
The skewing also flies in direct opposition to the higher Republican turnout come November. As even NPR noted, Republicans far outstripped Democrats in the turnout during the primaries.
I’m Still reporting from Washington. Good day.
