When ebay started it was a shining example of what it meant to be a capitalist...and live in a Free society. But now especialy seeing the updates that are to come Ebay has become a text book example of what has went wrong with this country its becoming a globalist/communist puppet meant to kill out any free capitalist minded people by rigging the game. Dont even get started on the double dipping of pay pal and ebay fees. This is ECONOMIC TERRORISM PEOPLE THEY ARE TRYING TO KILL US THROUGH STARVATION if we dont let them control us. This is  sick and sad I cant believe ebay was even started in this country...anyone may elaborate if they will...just throwing the truth out there

Take one dodgy buyer and a honest seller... Dodgy buyer damages item on receipt...wants full refund...Honest seller contest dispute with EBay...Ebay ignores any explanation from honest seller and awards full refund including postage to dodgy buyer....EBay takes money out of honest sellers paypal acount without any notification and gives it to dodgy buyer. Then EBay in there great wisdom invoices honest seller, seller fees and value fee for postage claimimg seller had sold the item..!!!!! Honest seller receives damaged item back from dodgy buyer..SO...summing up....Dodgy buyer gets all his money back...Honest seller, now has damaged item and is also charged seller fees and postage rip off fees...for something that was NOT sold....Fraud and illegal usage of accounts springs to mind...an absolute disgrace...and RIP OFF...!!!!!!!

Says who? Maybe they think leaving negative feedback is a poor sportsmanship (haters) way of response so all positives posted are negs? but negs cant always hold true. In that case, you can always rate them! Gives room for improvement. Another persons junk, is another persons prosper. Out with old , in with new.... Wisdom is great aint it ? till youre upset !

I put up an auction for my bass guitar for $1049.  It sold.  Ebay charged me over $94 in final value fees - Paypal charged me $31+ - shipping cost was $61 UPS ground - add it all up and it cost me over 17% to sell my item.  I'm done with Ebay.  What a ripoff!  I tried calling Ebay to discuss if these fees were legit - forget about it!  You CANNOT get a real person on the phone and it's IMPOSSIBLE to send an email to anyone at Ebay.  They have truly mastered the art of sucking your money from your wallet without any possibility of accountability!  I HATE EBAY & PAYPAL!  It used to be a fun economical place to do business.  Now it's nothing more than a dirty con rat hole!  I AM DONE WITH EBAY!

I agree their fees are high but so is the cost of doing business. 17% isn't by any means bad......Try running a brick and mortor and you'll see expenses....

You are a business and as such want quality service...your gona pay for it.....and until late when eBay desided to become ebay and take on big corporations as their main seller base it was not just the best it was the only place we small sellers could sell with big profits....fees or not, you price according to your cost of doing business. which is not flea market pricing but true retail

False equivalence! A person selling their guitar or a somebody trying to get by with a small ebay store is in no way, shape, or form, the same thing as a brick and mortar retail store buying products in bulk for very low cost per unit. This company is stepping on the neck of the little guy trying to get a leg up and who is the backbone of and reason for this company's very existence.

SAME THING happened to me several times!!  One good thing is once I quit accepting returns things got a little better.  However, there's still the buyer that wants refunds because of supposed seller "mistake", and doesn't thing they should have to go to the bother of returning the item as it wasn't their fault to begin with, just refund the money.. Yeah right.  When that wasn't going to happen, guess what, buyer changes their mind and decides to keep the item,

I am so done with ebay.

Lots of rip offs on ebay.  My last 3 purchases were NOT as described- received 2 sets of crystal candlesticks that did not match!   Received a bottle advertised as "new- never used" and was obviously half empty when I received it.

What I think is esp. funny are that most products I look at on ebay can be purchased at the store for MUCH LESS MONEY!  e.g. who pays $20.00 or more PLUS shipping for a bottle of clinique hairspray that you can pick up at the store for $13.00 plus tax.  I asked one person about their way overpriced items, and they pretty much told me they were aiming at international sales.  But one of the Clinique hairspray rip offs clearly states "only ships within the U.S."  So who buys this stuff?  People who don't know how to shop around?

I use ebay much less than I used to- and with those last 3 purchases of unmatched and used items advertised as new, I am growing inclined to skip it all together.

I am the ghost of a former seller. The poor guy tried to sell a set of tires on ebay, planning to use the proceeds to purchase a cheaper set of tires for a small car. This was the breakdown.

Sale price with shipping:               $272.50

Actual shipping cost:                     $85.40 ($15 over ebay's shipping estimate).

Final value fee:                              $18.23

Final value fee, shipping:                  $6.30

Paypal fee:                                     $8.20

Net proceeds:                             $154.37

To make a long story short, the guy couldn't afford to buy new tires and he and his family ended up dead on the Interstate after hydroplaning in the rain.

*NOTE: This outcome hasn't happened yet, but when it does ebay will be guilty of not only highway robbery, but also MURDER!!

I called eBay this morning because I noticed they had taken 9% on both the final value and shipping charges for two items I recently sold.  I asked their rep why they had charged me when I went to the Post Office and mailed them myself.  The rep said "when you listed the item you chose the shipping method and when the buyer paid you we deduct the amount automatically".  They apparently do this to everyone, even if you did not print a shipping label using eBay.  Only people who scrutinize their bills and call apparently get a refund for those charges.
I asked about the Parcel Post option no longer being available which caused me to take my items to the post office. eBay and the post office have stopped parcel post shipping options. When I asked the post office they said it was eBay who stopped the option, when i called eBay today, they said it was the Post Office.
When you list an item, even today, the parcel post option (standard shipping) is available until you sell the item and it is not one of the options for shipping. Obviously, if you are selling an item on auction and it fetches a low price but is big and or heavy it costs a lot to ship and eBay is taking 9% of that amount even though you do not use their service (because you can't!).
When I asked what we should do when selling and the standard shipping is not available I was told by the eBay rep that I should add the cost of shipping to the beginning price (even thought eBay suggests we start all auction sales at $.99 to improve the chances of selling).  However, how does one know where the buyer will be located? If one takes the maximum possible, say shipping from LA, CA to Bangor, Maine, then a buyer in San Diego gets cheated.
If eBay can generate tracking numbers then why can't they tell a person has not used their shipping label and not charge them the 9%?  because they are making a killing on people who don't check their bills.  Be careful.

The new fees announced for May 2013 raise my selling fees by 120% or so...What eBay doesn't realize is that I have been selling on eBay and not on Amazon because I always felt eBay was at least reasonable with their fees. Repeat, I do not sell on Amazon. Now that eBay is trying to get rates up to be comparable to Amazon, a clear profit grab, I am tempted to stop selling on eBay too.

Why eBay? We had a good thing goin here for both of us.

EBay is more than a Rip Off.  The way I see things, EBay has turned into a "front" for Money Laundering.

After 13 years involved with EBay I will now leave as a seller.

I left negative honest feedback for a seller due to the item I purchased being advertised as a woman's large and the shirt being advertised as new....the item arrived and it was a youth large at best, and it stunk of BO....ebay removed the feedback stating that it was removed because I was interfering with the mans business due to the fact that the seller had previously left negative to feedback for a seller related to me. This same person purchased two items from a related seller, first complained because shipping could not be combined, then allowed the items to go to un-paid status under e-bay, then received the items and left negative feedback never contacting the seller, he is also a competitive seller of the same items the relative sells, e-bay refused several times to remove the feedback left for the relative seller, yet removed mine in a few days stating that I was related to this seller, even though they are completely separate accounts. So where does the policy on the relative seller that ebay will remove feedback when a item goes to the unpaid status? This appears to be discrimination in my eyes. How about it buyers and sellers what is your opinion?

I am an unhappy seller as well! I STILL leave a buyer that needs negative feedback what they deserve...I say what has to be said on positive feedback, it is still able to be viewed. I figure that's what matter's.

I can sell a Truck cheaper on e-bay than a $1,200 generator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree deerhunter182 ! E-bay will not be getting my money any more on large items! I sold a generator for $1,200. Shipping was $165, Ebay took $120, and pay pal also had to get their greedy fingers in the mix. After all was done I should have just sold the generator locally for $900 and helped someone out here instead of making e-bay, the shippers, and paypal rich off of my hard earned dollars.

NEVER AGAIN!!! E-BAY RIP-OFF!!! I will go to your competition for now on, unless you change your greedy ways. I can see charging a flat fee of $35, or something to post an item, but $120 for a generator!!!!! You people are greedy tycoons!!!!

Never again!!!

Yes... I have 5 negative feedbacks - ALL BECAUSE OF MAIL... and they get the items... One of them in RUSSIA.... eBay has refused to fix the problems. I want to cancel my anchor store, but then what?  eBay is losing money for this too........but when they MAKE SOOOOOOOOO much money, who cares - right?  Here's the deal.  eBay figures that if we can leave negative feedback on buyers, then sellers won't sell to bad buyers....eBay NEEDS bad buyers to buy....because eBay gains so much when an item sells...... I am sure they have conducted studies....

An ebay rep. called me; suggesting how to better my sales.... In response, I advised how eBay doesn't really care about me.... and us sellers...

AM I CORRECT? "yes"

I have been selling for more than 6 months and selling mainly bulk items. The one thing I have noticed is it does not matter if you are honest and completely responsive to a buyer. If a buyer simply opens a case requesting a full refund they wll get it. I had ebay CS tell me without even receiving the return item to issue complete refund. Turns out if I would have without receiving the item I would not only have lost money but my product as well. These buyers simply google how to ripoff sellers and follow suite. Ebay will always side with buyer no matter what. It is up to the sellers to prove the buyer wrong or to prove the buyer did not return the item. After I proved the item was not returned I was re-issued the payment for a second time. If your a buyer simply open a case and it is then your to lose!! beware sellers.
