The assault against Judge Roy Moore and his candidacy in the Alabama’s special election has reached a fevered pitch, as yet another accuser has come forth with accusations against him from nearly 40 years ago. This time, however, the stakes have been raised, as the accusation is not only that Moore liked to date younger girls when he was in his 30’s, but actually engaged in sexual assault.
First, recall that in October of 2016, less than a month until Election Day, the Hollywood Access tape was released and used as an attempt to oust Donald Trump from his candidacy. Furthermore, Gloria Alrod, the same lawyer who rounded up women accusing Trump of sexual assault during the presidential election, is now also unveiling accusers against Roy Moore. However, after Trump won the presidential election in November, these women and their claims mysteriously evaporated. Suddenly it appeared as if their pain and anguish was no longer center stage, as its actual purpose of ousting Trump from his candidacy was no longer possible.
Now, almost a year later to the day, establishment forces both Democrat and Republican appear to be rehashing the same attack strategy to oust Roy Moore from his candidacy in Alabama, as additional women are coming out of the woodwork to accuse him of even worse past improprieties.
Since the first allegations against Roy Moore have failed to force him to step aside, which in essence were “he dated an underage girl 40 years ago”, now the establishment is upping the ante to full on sexual assault allegations. A woman named Beverly Young Nelson has been marched out by Gloria Allred to claim that Moore assaulted her in the parking lot of a diner in 1977. Nelson claims that her boyfriend was suppose to pick her up from work one evening but didn’t show up. Moore was present at the diner and offered her a ride home. Nelson claims he then locked the doors and she couldn’t escape as he sexual assaulted her.
Moore has stated these allegations are absolutely false and that he doesn’t even know the woman nor has he dined at the establishment in question.
Judge Roy Moore for his part has announced that he will file a lawsuit against the Washington Post for false accusations and defaming.
Moore brought up the allegations near the end of a 40-minute speech.“About three days ago, The Washington Post published another attack on my character and reputation in a desperate attempt to stop my political campaign,” he said. “These attacks about a minor child are completely false and untrue. And for which they will be sued.”Moore then received an ovation from the crowd – one of many that occurred during the speech. At the end, Moore received a standing ovation. The Senate election against Democrat Doug Jones is Dec. 12.Moore also adamantly said that he had no intention of dropping out of the race nor of being forced to leave the race.“We do not intend to let the Democrats, we do not intend to let the established Republicans, we do not intend to let anybody deter us from finishing this race,” Moore said. “We fully expect the people of Alabama to see through this charade. And we will continue our efforts.”
Regardless of the validity of the allegations against Moore, it should be patently obvious the “establishment” Republicans do not want this man in Washington DC. This should come as no surprise considering Mitch McConnell supported Moore’s opponent, Luther Strange, during the primaries who was “establishment approved”. Steve Bannon, however, has launched an all out war against establishment Republicans who, in his words, do not support President Trump or his America First agenda. Bannon threw his support behind Judge Roy Moore during the Alabama primaries against Luther Strange, who was backed by McConnell who threw tens of millions of dollars behind his campaign to no avail.
The message from the establishment is simple. If the voters don’t choose the candidate who’s “in the club”, then they will stop at nothing to destroy their character and prevent them from taking office.
Similar to what happened during the 2016 election, when long-term establishment Republicans branded themselves “Never Trumpers” in an effort to prevent Donald Trump from taking office, despite the will of the voters, a new assault is taking place against outsider Judge Roy Moore. There is even talk of the state Republican Party formally pulling their support from Moore’s candidacy. This means that even if Judge Roy Moore wins the Alabama special election in December, the results could be declared null and void by the Governor and a new election would take place.
In other words, if the establishment Republicans don’t like the candidate the voters are electing, they will simply keep holding elections until they receive the results that they want.
In essence, the Democratic process of America that allows the voter’s voices to be heard and represented in Washington can be undermined by politicians already in power, whose positions are threatened by the voters. Despite the allegations against Moore, which should be taken seriously, the end result of these attacks are not for the purpose of justice being served, but rather to destroy an outsider candidate who refuses to “play ball” with the political elitein addition to being a staunch ally of Donald Trump’s America first agenda.
Conservative talkshow host Rush Limbaugh summed up the Roy Moore accusations the best during his show today:
“Whether Judge Moore did the deed or deeds or not, what’s really happening here folks, if you really want to know – it’s a multi-faceted search-and-destroy mission here,” Limbaugh said. “But what’s really driving this – do not doubt me about this. But what’s really driving this is Mitch McConnell saying to Steve Bannon, ‘Really? You think you’re going to get your guys elected? You think you are going to get your guys elected and me kicked out of here? Really? Seriously? OK, watch this.’”“Don’t forget, Judge Moore is – Trump did not endorse him, but Steve Bannon, I don’t know – endorsed, chose, go behind, supports, what have you,” he continued. “And Bannon has been very upfront about the objective he has, and that’s to get Mitch McConnell out of the Senate. And so I don’t think – even if all we had was one allegation against Judge Moore, this was going to be it for Judge Moore. It didn’t matter because this is now being used to send a message to Bannon and his group that you just – you think you’re going to get rid of me, well take a look at what’s going to happen every time you try. So that clearly is a factor here.”
This series of events should send a chill down the spine of every American voter, regardless of political affiliation, as it represents a gross attack on the rights of the people to choose their leadership in Washington. Although Donald Trump managed to overcome every attack levied against him, make no mistake, the establishment has been busy developing new strategies to prevent this from happening again. No politician in power wants to lose their power, and the voters represent the main threat to their position. Therefore, if the voters refuse to go along with their plans or chosen candidates, their choice will be nullified. This is typically accomplished in the manner we are witnessing now with Roy Moore, by character assassination, but make no mistake if these attempts fail, the establishment will become desperate and will rely on arcane Republican party rules to nullify the choice of the voters.
If the establishment’s attacks are allowed to succeed and Roy Moore is ousted from his position despite the will of the voters in Alabama, then you can be sure this trend will continue against any outsider candidate, regardless of if those allegations are true or not. The voters of Alabama will make their choice next month and if the Democrat candidate proves victorious against Moore, then that also becomes a victory for McConnell and his establishment cronies.
