New York Deputy Mayor Requested Navy Fighter Jets to Protect the City on 9/11 but None Arrived

Admiral Robert Natter, then commander of the US Atlantic Fleet, recalls how he received a request for the US Navy to provide fighter jets to help protect New York following the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, and yet, inexplicably, no Navy fighters subsequently arrived over the city. Natter says that following the first crash at the World Trade Center, Rudy Washington, the deputy mayor of New York City, called him "to ask for assistance, due to the significant damage to the first tower." The assistance he requested included a hospital ship and construction equipment. While the two men were talking, though, a second plane crashed into the World Trade Center, which made clear that this was a terrorist attack. Washington therefore "asked for air assistance," Natter recalls. Washington called Natter once more after the South Tower collapsed. During that call, he again asked "if we could provide air cover." Natter immediately called Vice Admiral Michael Malone, the commander of naval air forces, and to him that they needed to "check in with the North American Air Defense Command, who should have had control of this operation." And yet, despite Washington's request and Natter's subsequent action, apparently no Navy fighters ever arrived over New York to help protect the city that day. When freedom wasn’t so far.

To leave the gun there in the drawer,  

To listen to that small, still voice.  

If only I had walked away,  

Left anger behind and shut the door,  

I’d be out there, living life,  

Not trapped in regret forevermore.  

So if you’re there, standing on the edge,  

With a gun resting in your hand,  

Think of all you have to lose,  

All the things you can’t withstand.  

Leave the gun in the drawer, my friend,  

Choose a path where love is found,  

For once you cross that line, you see,  

There’s no way to turn around.  

I’m living proof, I’m locked away,  

A life wasted, full of sorrow,

This could be as easy as enforcing existing drug laws regarding possession and then offer the ability to drop charges if they go to rehab. 

I can't say what former laws might have been subverted in Kensington, but almost certainly at some point there were public intoxication laws. Even the man that walked away would likely be charged with public intox in the past, but could be offed the alternative of private detox. 

The building where free needles are being given out in the area might suggest this was an experiment. It so, it failed. Not all drugs are the same. Even Marijuana makes some people very fat from constantly having the munchies (the reason I stopped) and obesity is the number one killer. But that pales in comparison to this. 

Forget the Mayor though, where is Governor Shapiro with all this? I mean, he was hiding out waiting for Kamala to pick him, but maybe now he can get to work.
